Engaged: Kendall + Torey! ! !

I met Kendall years ago when I started working at L’Andana! (Kendall actually trained me, I was so nervous – she was so pretty!) There are not enough nice things to say about her – sweet, thoughtful and incredibly beautiful – inside and out. Well, Kendall and Torey have been together for-ev-er – after buying a condo in the Navy Yard together Torey decided to pop the question on a little bench outside their home facing the water. So this is where we headed for our photoshoot. Awesome location.

Congrats to them both! Such an exciting future ahead.

PS: Kendall recently became a certified Yoga instructor (need a good personal session – call her!) and writes a blog you can check out here –> On An Inhale. Great tips and ideas about becoming the best possible YOU!

Oh, and Kendall got to meet Miss Lila!! I was kind of hoping Lila’s cuteness would rub off on this gorgeous couple – I need more babies in my life!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

My little family went home to my mom & pop’s house “down the cape” to celebrate the holiday – it was quiet, warm & lovely. Great-Gram got to play with Lila all day, which meant the world to me. Lila has finally grown out of that stage where people are nervous to hold her and she got her fair share of attention. (by “fair share” I mean – all) :)

Thanksgiving was simple. We cooked. We ate. We napped. Polished the day off family style with Apple & Blueberry Pie, the fire going and the traditional Lady Gaga Thanksgiving Special.

Marriage: Week One!

Well, having a premarital baby sometimes takes the romance out of life’s moments. There’s surprise diaper monsters, what feels like constant breastfeeding (baby on boob = not always sexy), wet tears and demon screams…just to name a few of Lila’s little surprises. But, TJ and I are lucky enough to be friends first…we have fallen in love with parenting and also with being “married”.

Week one was quite similar to the last 18 weeks of parenting…except we can still basque in the glow of our raging wedding reception! (It was an epic weekend for 2 new parents!)

Yesterday was sweet and quiet and without expectation – a lovely Saturday. We filled our bellies with a gigantic breakfast than headed out to take some senior photos for the famous Joe Tivnan. Post portrait session – we hung out at Spot Pond as the sun set, laughing, skipping stones and being kids.

There were a few moments where I looked over at my HUSBAND – and thought…Damn, I’m lucky!

These pictures are week one in a nutshell.

Twelve Chairs – 12 Stars! ! ! !

I had the pure pleasure of photographing Twelve Chairs last week. The sun light! The colors! The patterns and fabrics! I stepped into heaven. Move over Anthropologie – your truthful, honest & sweet as sugar little sister has moved to town.

Totally hidden on A Street in Boston’s Fort Point District…you feel like you have stumbled upon the world’s prettiest hidden jewel…a sparkly blue topaz surrounded by tiny Georgia peaches.

When I was pregnant I made a list of all these uber-cool things I would buy Lila. TJ and I swore she would have the coolest book collection ever. We are getting there…Well, Twelve Chairs has the BEST baby collection in the corner of their store. Books, prints, soft things. If I didnt have to RUN to my next shoot that day I would have cleared out that bookcase of lovely baby gifts. (I have a few friends having baby’s next year….eeeeek!!) So excited.

So – stop in to Twelve Chairs. Say HI to Miggy & Roisin. Make sure to compliment them on their impeccable taste.

Images of Heaven to follow:

Cornbread in the South End – Union Bar & Grille

Union Bar and Grille is a place I first went to back in 2005 (ish) – I went to their soft opening. I loved the cornbread then – and I was excited to go back and have it 6 years later. (Wow, time flies)

The cornbread at Union is served fresh and warm in a cast iron skillet. Cutting out your first wedge is like breaking into a creme brulee – the top perfectly crispy – the inside, steamy and buttery.

Between, planning a wedding and raising the cutest kid on earth – I take pictures, shoot events & people and very soon will be embarking on my biggest job yet. (stay tuned)

These images are from an event I shot for DineOut Boston. Basically DineOut is a group of people that get together and once or twice a month go to awesome restaurants, have great cocktails, socialize then sit down for a chef prepared dinner. Not a bad deal. Jesse Cooke is the mastermind – look him up on the site and attend an event. They’re fun!

Cheese! Butter! Bacon! (Roxy’s – I am your biggest fan)

The minute I woke up this morning, I said – “TJ, I want Roxy’s” You ask and you shall receive. The canary yellow food truck was parked at Forsyth and Hemenway right outside Northeastern and to my delight there wasn’t much of a line. We quickly ordered a Green Muenster, a Rookie, Truffle Fries and a blackberry lemonade.

The bread has a griddley crunch, the cheese is hot and gooey and the fries straddle the perfect line between overcooked and golden.

Happy Saturday ! ! !

A little New Orleans

In March – Tj and I took a little jaunt to New Orleans, LA for a little sightseeing and QT before the baby is born in July!! (Oh yea, I am having a baby….in July) The south is beautiful – quiet, warm and embracing. I tried to focus on the Hasselblad – for the first time in a long time and instantly remembered why I love the clunky metal moon camera…New Orleans was a nice escape – the beignets were addictive and Tj was a trooper lugging around his pregnant lady for a few days.

Pizza!

Pizzeria Posto is located in Davis Square, Somerville MA – 2 old co-workers of mine are now running the show over there. (Joe Cassinelli, Chef/Owner and Edson Coimbra, GM) They are doing a great job. It’s always a delicious stop. Great wines – great fire kissed pizza. Visit Posto next time you are in Davis – 187 Elm Street, Somerville MA or www.pizzeriaposto.com.

These images are from my second visit there (last summer) – I have been back many times since and have never been disappointed!

Harvard Museum of Natural History – Autumn Shoot!

Back in the summer I was lucky enough to be hired by the Harvard Museum of Natural History – to photograph murals for their upcoming exhibition (Coming Spring 2011) We photographed mostly in Petersham, MA – where the Harvard Forest is located. These two pictures are actually from our last shoot we did together – definitely the most colorful. It was a bittersweet day, I had grown quite close with the people over at the Exhibitions Department. But, with scenery like this – it was a great send off!

Some Term 1 Editorial assignments.

I want to believeThese are some images outside of my FAMILIES project that will not be in my final portfolio. But I love them just the same! Read the rest of this entry »
